old Border Collie mix, was a rescue from the local pound in 2001.

training in 2002, she really enjoys the sport and has become quite
competitive, earning her FD, FDX, FDCH S, FDCH G, AND FM titles.
Daisy was also involved with the Prescription: Pets program which is
an affiliate of the Delta Society. She was a Pet Partner from
November 2001, until 2005, when she retired from this program, to
concentrate all her time on flyball. |

Gypsy
is owned and handled by
Ralph and Barbara Darrow of
Redding; CA. Gypsy was born on May 5, 2003 on a working ranch in
Cottonwood, CA. She is an accomplished flyball
racer. She has earned her FD, FDX, FDCH, FDCH Silver, FDCH Gold, and
FM titles. She is also a dock jumper with Shasta Splash Dogs in
Redding. She refused to jump off the dock for three years, just
didn't want to go. We tried her occasionally, just in case she
changed her mind. Finally in summer of 2006 she decided to jump.
After very little additional training, she earned her Senior Jumper
Title in Auburn in 2006, in one weekend. She is also a therapy dog
for Prescription Pets,
and visits patients in hospitals and nursing homes. She has been introduced to
agility, herding, Frisbee and Canine Freestyle Dance, though she
doesn’t not compete in those sports. Gypsy is a bit intense, and
obsesses over cell phones, blow dryers, websters, and water hoses. |

Reno
is owned and handled by
Ralph and Barbara Darrow of Redding, CA. Reno was born
October 15, 2005 to the Bobula family of Dayton, NV. He is the son
of Gabe the Flying Border Collie of dock jumping fame. He has been
racing since 2006, and his NAFA flyball titles include FD, FDX,
FDCH, FDCH Silver and Gold, and FM.
He
is a developing dock jumper, and competed for the first time in
September of 2006 in Auburn, CA. Since then, his jumping career has
been a bit of a roller coaster, but we are all up for the ride! :-) He shows great promise in sheep
herding. He has also been introduced to Frisbee, Agility, and Canine
Freestyle Dancing. Reno has a delightful, clownish personality
that keeps his human family in constant chuckles. When Reno is
involved, you never quite know what to expect!
The picture was taken by the Record Searchlight Photographer Mike
Greener at the Howl-o-ween at Benton Dog Park 2007. |

Jake
(owned by Pat
& Max Hall)
came to us in Jan 2005 he is a 6 yr old Tri color B.C. Jake was
doing a lot of herding when we got him. He did sheep, cattle &
ducks. And did very well, earned several silver buckles for his
former owner Bob Jones.
Bob
was a next door neighbor when we lived in the central valley. Bob
became ill and passed away. His children did not want Jake and asked
us if we would take him, and of course we were happy to.
Jake ran his first race in May 2005 with the Ball Haulers and has
been running every since. He absolutely loves the game.
We have since moved
to the most northern part of California, about 5 miles from the
Oregon border. I found the Strike Force team in Redding. And have
been running with them for the last two years. |

Tipp
was born on New Year's Day 2006. He is owned
and handled by
Jean
and Emma Keyes. A Border Collie mix who
was rescued from our local Haven Humane society, he has earned his
FD, FDX, FDCh-S, and FDCh-G, as well as Top Flight levels I, II, and
III titles in his first year of competing.
He can’t get enough of flyball and has earned the nickname “houndini”
from his ability to back out of his harness to “join in the fun”
when his handler won’t let him run.
He also competes in dock jumping with a personal best of “21
minus 1” (20’11”) at the Shasta District Fair in 2008. He can't seem
to get enough of water, whether it's a pool, the lake, or dancing
with the water hose. At home he
enjoys herding our cats, watching "Coming Home" and getting his ears
massaged. |

My
name is Honey (officially it’s
Heathers
Honey).
I am a 48lb Golden Retriever. I was one of 7 puppies born on May 4,
2005 in Sacramento California. I came to live with
Tami King in Redding on June 26, 2005. My training was
started early at River Dog Agility & Training Center with Lynn
Murray. I have been a good student and know all the basic stuff, and
am pretty well behaved. I have taken classes in Agility and Dock
Jumping, and would some day like to participate in the prescription
pet program. I am new to Fly Ball but I LOVE IT!
In
my spare time I enjoy playing with my friends at River Dog’s day
camp, taking walks with my family, watching Animal Planet and of
course chasing the ball!! I also enjoy going out on the lake in our
family boat to swim and catch some rays. When I am at home I love to
swim in our pool and again chase balls around the pool. At this time
I’m an only child but some day I hope to get a brother or sister to
play with. I’m a spoiled loved dog! |

Chloe
(owned by Melanie Wallach)
is a smallish (55 lbs) black lab born on March 3, 2004. One of our
teammates has nicknamed her "Looney" because when she sees a tennis
ball, any tennis ball, she does go a little nuts. But you can't
blame her too much, it's in her blood. Her parents and grandparents
are all field trial champion retrievers. Unfortunately for Chloe,
I'm not much of a hunter (ok, I don't hunt at all), so we needed to
find a sport that would capitalize on her strengths—fast,
ball-driven and energetic. Flyball is definitely that sport! We've
been involved with Redding's awesome team, Strike Force, since July
2007. We enjoy this sport first and foremost because it's just good
clean fun for Chloe. And ultimately, that's what it's all about for
me—having fun with my dog with a group of folks who have the same
interest. Of course, being part of a winning team just makes it all
the better.
Chloe and I also
enjoy a lot of other activities together including dock jumping,
hiking, and swimming laps in our pool. But she does seem to enjoy
rolling around in the grass much more than I do . |

Brutus is a 3 1/2 year old Jack
Russell Terrier. Brutus was bred and raised by
Jamie Wolff, they have been together since his
beginning. Brutus loves to play and is very, very ball obsessed.
Brutus gets along well with almost any animal and people, including
children. He loves to go to work with me at Asher Animal Hospital
where he likes to visit all the other pets. He lives at home with
three cats and two parrots, who he has learned to beg from. We look
forward to training and competing this year and our main goal is for
Brutus to have as much fun as possible. |

Stella,
Born on January 8th 2007, is owned & handled by
Laura Foxworthy. Stella’s not your average Jack
Russell Terrorist. While she can be the trademark high energy
dog; she’s also quite content with lying in her mom’s lap, and can
be quite the “sensitive flower”. While her obsession is the
tennis ball & she’s a wicked-fast runner (quite helpful in flyball),
she also enjoys chasing the Frisbee, riding along on the kayak,
hiking, road trips in the RV, car rides with the top down, and a
good game of “tail” chasing with any dogs that will play along.
During the hot months of the year, you might find Stella lounging on
a floatie with her mom in their pool.
Stella has caught on to flyball quite quickly, as she does with just
about anything new introduced to her. Her titles include FD,
FDX, FDCh, & FDCh-S. She seems to dig the sport, and so does
her mom! |

Jakers
is a 7-year-old Border Collie/Kelpie cross. His human/handler
is
Kris Dougan. Jakers
started as a puppy on cattle. He took commands from horseback.
He was very good at herding. He did his job for about 3 years. But
after having to move to the city, he became very focused on the
BALL! He will do anything for a ball! Even after you put
the ball up, he will find something for you to throw, even an oak
leaf! After many years of fetching the ball, Kris told her
friend Kim McKinnies about how ball driven Jakers was. She
said that she was part of Strike Force Flyball Team. After
explaining Flyball, Kris was invited to come out and watch the team
and to bring Jakers for an evaluation. He did a recall with no
problem, and FAST! But when it came to the box, he would veer
left and lie down and wait for the ball. After many nights of
teaching him to touch the couch before Kris would throw the ball,
the light went on! Jakers holds the record for moving to
intermediate, FOUR training sessions. Yup, four training
sessions. He will run in his first flyball tournament in
Vallejo in April 2008. He might have gotten a late start at
flyball, but he is certainly making up for lost time! |

Pearl, born approximately 3-9-08, is owned & handled
by Laura Foxworthy. Pearl
was a special find from Haven Humane, a very intelligent McNab.
She has taken to flyball like a fish to water
- she's a natural! Stella & Pearl are complete "BFF" now, except for the occasional
friendly reminder Stella has to give her as to who wears the "Pants"
in the pack... (har har har) Pearl
is a super fast learner, aims to please, loves to play ball, and is completely
obsessed with the swimming pool & anything in it. We'll have to
think about introducing her to dock jumping as a second sport! |

Ralph
and Barbara Darrow
of Redding. Blaze was born on Valentine’s Day,
2008. She is a tri Border Collie from working lines. Blaze came to
live with us on May 1, 2008, the same day we lost our beloved
Einstein. She gave us joy amidst our grief.
Blaze has been busy with
puppy classes, and has been busy attending both Flyball tournaments
and dock jumping competitions. She is just beginning her puppy
Flyball training. She will be racing in 2009. Flyball world, Watch

Mikey -
Is owned and handled by D J
Miguel. We used to raise
Australian Shepherds, and every time we had a litter my son
DJ would get attached to a puppy and then be upset when we sold
it. He used to beg me for a puppy he could keep, AND one
that would stay small and always be a puppy. I saw Mikey
at the pet store one day, and DJ had just received his report
card and it was really good. So I came home that day, and
handed DJ a small paper bag. He had no idea what was
inside. But it was a small, little yellow puppy.
People still mistake Mikey for a puppy, so I guess I picked the
right one. Even though Mikey is small he has a huge heart
and drive for flyball. It is something he can really excel
at, and show off his stuff!! Watch out big dogs, here
comes Mikey!

Jesse -
Jesse is a five-year-old
German bred Rottweiler. She absolutely loves children, cookies, “The
Ball” and showing off her tricks (in that order). Jesse is also a
retired Schutzhund dog, who has been looking for her retirement
sport, and flyball seems to be the winner. This goof of a Rottie
loves to listen while you talk and cocks her head from side to side
like she understands every word you are saying. Just ask her!
|
|
 |
Daisy -
Daisy is a five-year-old Pitbull/Queensland
heeler mix who gives a new meaning to “ball crazy”. If she could she
would eat, sleep, and breathe the ball. Daisy has a wonderful
personality, she loves to smile when you’re talking to her and
doesn’t hesitate to talk back. This little Pitty mix has been
looking for the right job for a long time and I think she finally
found one she can “fly” with.

Indy
500 -
Indy is a 2 and a 1/2 year old American
Staffie. She is a rescue from Haven Humane. She was
"discovered" when her new Mom,
Kris Dougan was at Haven Humane
with Barbara evaluating dogs for flyball ability. She was the
first one they tested, and she LOVES the ball! And she is FAST,
not just FAST, Indy 500 FAST! That is how she got her name.
Her new Mom was looking for a second flyball dog and was really
really impressed with Indy's ball drive and speed. Jesse
(Kris's 22 month old son) even approved of her. Indy is going
to spend the next couple of weeks getting acquainted with her
new family before starting practice with flyball. She has
already determined that the best place to sleep is on Lauren's
bed (She is Kris's 8 year old daughter). She is a quick learner
and loves her new family. Jakers doesn't seem to mind her too
much, but now he has to be faster at getting the ball because
Indy can beat him to it. Indy also loves to be a clown. She
has a funny personality. When she is done playing she "flops"
down on the grass and lays tummy up with the ball. We will keep
her bio updated as her flyball career starts!

Bam Bam - Bam Bam is a
9-month-old Pug Mix. He was rescued from Asher Animal Hospital
when he was brought in for a broken leg and was going to be put to
sleep. He deserved a chance and a home where he will be loved
and taken care of no matter what happens to him. After owning
him for a few months and his leg healed up it is easy to see how he
may have hurt himself...he is a dare devil. He loves playing
keep away with his brother Brutus, who isn't quite sure if he likes
Bam or not. We are in training with Bam Bam to work on his
ball drive and he is coming along well. He loves going to the
tournaments and meeting all the new dogs. Bam Bam was a
wonderful find and we can't imagine life without him. We look
forward to training and racing with him next season.

Cookie
is owned and loved by
Tom and Carol
Hoover. Cookie was born on July 22, 2007 and is a Border Collie mix.
In December 2007 a very good friend told us about Cookie, a very
ball oriented dog, who was camping at Haven Humane waiting for a new
home. While we were considering adopting her, someone else adopted
her. Her new family returned her a week or two later because she was
too interested in their cat, so we brought her home. Cookie is a
very active dog that gets along well with other dogs. She’s
currently in Flyball training, and is “testing the water” for
another sport (dock jumping).

Aurora -
Owned
and handled by Christine Michelson.
In April 2005 DJ and I flew to Alaska to train a couple of stallions
for breeding. The vet we were helping raised Jack Russells.
I had no intention of ever getting a Jack Russell, but Aurora had
different ideas, and it only took her a few hours to convince me she
really wanted to grow up in California. So she flew home with
us and has been my best friend ever since. I have always had
dogs, but Aurora is different. She has a huge vocabulary, and
very good at letting you know what she wants. I know Jacks
aren't for everybody, but I couldn't imagine my life without Aurora.
DJ (against my wishes) taught Aurora how to fetch, and the rest is
history. Playing with a tennis ball is Aurora's favorite
activity; and since she brings me so much happiness, if this makes
her happy, we're going to do it. After all, she deserves it!

Anna
Anna is a Jack Russell Terrier born on October
6, 2006 in Cottonwood, California. Anna is owned and handled by
Bob Ekin of Redding. Anna
measures in at under 10-inches tall and weighs in at less than 15
pounds. Anna is considered a beginner in Flyball and is learning
the jumps and ball drive. Anna is a very active, perky, merry,
loving, and devoted young dog. Although Anna is small, she is a
large dog in a small dog body with a typical Terrier attitude. She
loves to run and retrieve, now let’s learn that box turn. Anna
travels with Bob and her best friend Cody to Flyball tournaments and
dock jumping events for the experience. |

Abby
(owned by Kim
McKinnies) was born on September 21, 2006. She is a Jack
Russell, Corgi, Border Collie cross.
Abby loves everybody, especially her three kids. Abby loves to play
ball and loves to swim in the creek. Abby can herd horses and goats.
She likes going for trail rides. She sleeps on the couch and in bed
with the kids. She is spoiled rotten.
She is tons of fun
and really cute. She is really excited about flyball. |

Koa
(owned by Paula &
Marvin Straub)
came to us from Haven Humane in Redding. He was probably born in
May, 2006. We received him when he was about eight weeks old. He was
just a ball of fur. He was lots of fun, and received lots of
attention.
He’s grown up to be a fantastic dog. He listens well, and minds
well. He’s very smart. He can open and close the front door by
himself, using the knob. He loves the water.
He
started flyball training in mid-August. He did very well, and was
allowed to run a couple heats in the Strike Force tournament the end
of September, where he won his FD title. |

Cammie
(owned by Christine Doud) was
born November 26, 2006. Her registered name is Jubilee’s Showtime
Snap Shot (Showtime is my kennel name). She is from the Jubilee
kennel in Little Rock, CA, and has ten sibs. There were nine girls
in the litter, and two boys! All red merle or red tri. One sister is
in agility, and one is in flyball. Both parents are Champions in
conformation, and we will do that with Cammie later on when she’s a
little older and more behaved.
Cammie has just started flyball with Strike Force, and she is doing
very nicely. She should start racing in spring of 2008.
Cammie learned to heel really fast, got well socialized to dogs with
tails at the Benton Dog Park. She harasses her sister Janie, with
whom she lives. She learned to love the water at an early age
because of Janie and we will be trying her on dock jumping with
Shasta Splash Dogs soon. She's very exuberant and is the sharpest
dog I’ve owned, and I bred Aussies for years. |

 |
WeeBee
(owned by Pat
& Max Hall) was rescued at the age of six months. She had
been in three households by the time I got her. She was very shy and
afraid of everything. It did not take long to turn her around.
We
started out in Agility, she has done it all. NADAC Agility CH,
USDAA, CPE, and AKC. But she always liked flyball the best. She
doesn’t have to wait for me to catch up! We started flyball with the
Ball Haulers in Modesto, and ran with them until we moved last year.
Now we live almost in Oregon, about five miles from the border.
Since then we found the Strike Force team in Redding and
started running with them.
Since she earned her Onyx last year, she is semi-retired. She is ten
years old now, and only runs with the team when they need her. But
she really gets upset when she has to sit in her crate when the team
is running. |

Champ
(owned by
Carol and Tom Hoover) was born
December 26, 1999 in Pittville, CA and was one of 16 puppies. He is
a long-legged yellow lab weighing about 80 lbs. He loves the ball
24/7 and enjoys the game of you hide the ball and I'll find it. We
are new to flyball.
Champ enjoys the run and getting the ball and does fairly well on
the return. (He has is "senior" moments when coming back over the
jumps!) He is also active in Shasta Splash Dock Jumping Team. to
date he has jumps in the junior division. |

57 lb. Border Collie, 24" high at the withers. His NAFA flyball
titles included FD, FDX, FDCH, FDCH Silver, FDCH Gold, and FM. He

He was also been introduced to Frisbee,
Herding, Agility, and Canine Freestyle Dancing. He enjoyed watching
TV, and his favorite shows included anything on Animal Planet, and
America's Funniest Home Videos. Einstein crossed over to the Bridge
on May 1, 2008 after a brief bout with cancer. His loss is deeply
felt, and our love will be forever undiminished.
